Applied Learning Programme (ALP) - Health Sciences and Healthcare Technology
Our Applied Learning Programme (ALP) is a school niche programme to nurture students to be Motivated Learners, Assets to Community. Students learn to be critical thinkers and self-directed learners through the context of Health Sciences and Healthcare Technology. Learning comes alive when students apply knowledge and skills from academic curriculum to solve current, real-world problems in Singapore. They participate actively in a myriad of activities using 21st century skills such as collaborative learning and ICT skills. Secondary 1 students monitor various aspects of their health and lifestyle, gather data to analyse, propose and present plans to improve their well-being. For Secondary 2 students, they conduct research and design ways to aid the elderly so that they are empowered to live more fulfilling lives.
Nee Soon South Dementia Awareness Outreach
We are proud of our students from 2T1 who went to Chong Pang in an outreach to create awareness of dementia and how to help assist seniors with signs of dementia on 13 October 2017. The purpose of the outreach was to raise awareness among the students on the symptoms of dementia and instil values of empathy and service to the community.
Guided by our HOD Science, Mr Clement Ong, with support of our SAC member, Ms Rossana Chen, our ALP students were able to put their learning into practice, in service of their community.
