Education and Career Guidance

The NSS ECG Curriculum is a progressive module articulated across 4 or 5 years of a students’ education. It is delivered through the MOE ECG curriculum and NSS extension activities designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills for post-secondary education and work.

In lower secondary, students are given opportunities to discover their strengths and interests, and are given exposure to the world of work through a career cluster approach.

In upper secondary, students are given opportunities to clarify their strengths and interests, and are given exposure to the world of post secondary education through learning journeys to post-sec education institutions and elective modules organised by the Institute of Technical Education and selected vendors.

For students who are graduating, or who have graduated, it is understandable to be a little nervous, anxious and excited all at once as you consider where and what to study after Northland Secondary School.

To help you make this important decision,  we have provided some information on your post-secondary education options for your reference.

We hope you will find these useful!

Students who are thinking of attending Junior College as a post-secondary option could consider one of four North Zone Junior Colleges, which are Anderson Junior College, Innova Junior College, Serangoon Junior College and Yishun Junior College. These Junior Colleges provide variegated programmes that would meet the diverse needs and preferences of our Northstars, individually. A video of what the programmes and experiences offered by these JCs can be found here .

Happy hunting, and feel free to approach your Form Teachers, Cohort Managers, Year Heads and other teachers if you need more advice during this momentous, but exciting, period!

NSS Career Talk for Secondary Twos

To help our Northstars explore viable education and career options, Northland Secondary School conducted its inaugural career talk for our Secondary Twos on 25 October 2017. Our invited speakers span various industries including media, banking, health and entertainment.

Through the talk, our Northstars got to understand the workings of the various industries, and the competencies and qualifications needed to work in these fields. Most of the speakers were alumni of Northland Secondary School, who keenly shared on their professions, and urged the young ones to reach for their aspirations.
