Release of 2019 GCE O-Level Results

On Monday 13 January 2020, graduating students from Northland Secondary School received their GCE O-level results.  All of them were given a warm welcome by Principal, Mdm Jennifer Tan Siew Woon.  After a briefing, the graduating students received their result slips from their respective Form Teachers. 98.3% of our Northstars qualify for post-secondary education.

Our top students paid tribute to their parents, teachers and friends for being with them in this journey. Li Cai Zhi Min (4R1) is appreciative of his parents’ tremendous support during the examination period and would like to thank his friends for lending him a listening ear during stressful times. Huang Yaohui (4R1) is thankful for Mr Jackson Tan for imparting knowledge beyond the textbook and sharing effective study skills with her. She is also grateful to Miss Pang Yijia for her guidance as her form teacher for the past four years. Chan Yong Ze (4R1) is grateful for his classmates Yang Delin (4R1) and Andrew Nguyen Huy Dat (4R1) for helping him during the examination period. They helped each other as they grow in confidence in their subjects and the three of them have done well in their O levels.

So what is the next step for our successful Northstars? Andrew  and Yong Ze have set their sights to pursue A-levels in a junior college. Yaohui plans to take a media-related course in polytechnic. She hopes to eventually pursue a study in the Social Sciences in university. Muhamad Nabil B Zainallabideen (5R1) wishes to pursue an engineering course in the polytechnic.

Our Northstars would also like to share some tips with their juniors about preparing for examinations. Andrew advises Northstars not to be demoralised with failures but to use them as a springboard to do better - resilience is the key to success. Yaohui has also urged Northstars to take responsibility of their learning. Heng Rui Qi (5R1) advises her juniors to study smart and Chen Fan Fung (5R1) quoted, “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says I'm possible.”
